Her (Volume 2) by Pierre Alex Jeanty {Book Review}

I decided earlier this year to get into reading poetry again as well as writing my own.

One of the biggest issues that I’ve picked up with modern poetry is that it falls flat sometimes. I’m not saying it’s the case with all poetry, but sometimes when one has a masterpiece, the next piece of work doesn’t always live up to the same standard.

Thoughts:

I found this poetry book to be somewhat of a letdown compared to the previous book by the author.

The writing wasn’t up to the same standard of wonder and I didn’t find that many emotionally moving pieces. Most of the pieces came across as mansplaining instead of inspiration to women reading it, and that put me off quite a bit as well as added to the deciding factor to the rating I gave it.

Many if the author put some more time in reviewing the pieces before deciding on their finality, some would’ve been magnificent. It felt like an attempted rush to release the book but lacked the work behind it to make it a masterpiece.

I didn’t have it but I didn’t overly love it either.

My Rating:

The book has a rating of 4 on GoodReads. I gave it a 3.
