I’ll admit, I might not have been the target audience for this book of poems.
It’s written about the hardships about high school, which I hadn’t thought of in many years as it’s been a long time since I was in one. Some things do slip away from the mind when you add adulthood and it’s problems into the equation.

Thoughts:
As I mentioned that I struggled to find the poetry relatable, I couldn’t help but pick up on the repetition that came across the pages, most of the time in the same pieces and those were eye-rolling moments for me. In no way did the repetition of certain words or phrases give the meaning of the pieces any emphasis or add on to the emotional factor.
Some of the pieces were quite long and by the time I reached the end, I had no idea what the theme was or what the author was trying to highlight as important. Some of the pieces could’ve been more powerful it wasn’t for the overwhelming length and repetition.
The other part that tugged at me in a negative way was that the pieces were written in a way that gave you a sense that the author has everything figured out about life. It can’t be the case as no one has mastered in life, and it doesn’t matter at what age you’re reading this book, this aspect of conclusions still won’t make any sense.
I’m just looking at it from a realistic point of view, and I couldn’t connect with anything, which is rare because no matter the poetry book, there is always something that the reader can draw out and align with their own life.

My Rating:
The book has a rating of 4.14 on GoodReads. I gave it a 2.
