I’m not a fan of Tom Cruise at all so none of his movies strike me as amazing in any sense.
Now I’ve read the book the movie was adapted from and thanks to all the changes made (obvious ones), that became a little strong. I know it’s not his fault really, but he’s in the movie so it’s kind of the same thing. The logic is solid here.

Plot from GoodReads:
When an army of invading Martians lands in England, panic and terror seize the population. As the aliens traverse the country in huge three-legged machines, incinerating all in their path with a heat ray and spreading noxious toxic gases, the people of the Earth must come to terms with the prospect of the end of human civilization and the beginning of Martian rule.
Thoughts:
I appreciated the fact that the book didn’t take chapters on chapters to start up the action, it was present from the beginning.
The plot started off strong and then the interest in it started declining by halfway and I wasn’t as invested anymore.
Then the writing style just didn’t work for me. The paragraphs weren’t all paragraphs as much as they were sentences that never ended. Extremely long sentences made it difficult to read because there were no real breathing moments.
The concept was good, especially for the time the book was first published.

Overview:
The writing style affected enjoying the story and it was difficult to read.
My Rating:
The book has a rating of 3.83 on GoodReads. I gave it a 4.

Yes, I often find that older novels have that style. Why use 2 or 3 sentences when one extremely long sentences with 10 clauses will say the same thing?!?!
