It may have been a mistake jumping into a series with book seven and hoping things would make sense.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t and in this case, it didn’t. I only really wanted to read something short to pass some time but I might have needed to choose a little wiser.

Plot from GoodReads:
There is another school for children who fall through doors and fall back out again.
It isn’t as friendly as Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children.
And it isn’t as safe.
When Eleanor West decided to open her school, her sanctuary, her Home for Wayward Children, she knew from the beginning that there would be children she couldn’t save; when Cora decides she needs a different direction, a different fate, a different prophecy, Miss West reluctantly agrees to transfer her to the other school, where things are run very differently by Whitethorn, the Headmaster.
She will soon discover that not all doors are welcoming…
Thoughts:
I’ll admit, diving into a book so far into a series was a tough because there wasn’t much background context for me to go on.
That being said, taking the book for what it was, I found some parts extremely drawn out and dull, with information that didn’t bring much to the story. There was some repetitiveness that wasn’t necessary.
The characters weren’t all that fascinating and Cora wasn’t an exception. She irked me in unspeakable ways.

Overview:
I should at least give the first book a try before completely dismissing the series, but at this stage I’m not as keen based on what I found in this one.
My Rating:
The book has a rating of 4.09 on GoodReads. I gave it a 2.
