When you’re on a thriller book high, it’s just not acceptable to take a break and read a book from a different genre.
If you’re lucky, you jump straight into a book that will continue keeping you on your toes as you dive deeper into the suspense. This book held up a perfect example of how quickly a perfect life could be shattered in a split second.

Plot from GoodReads:
You have it all. Success, a beautiful home, a happy family.
Until, in a heartbeat, it’s gone.
We’ve kidnapped your daughter, and we know everything about you. Including the dark secrets from your past you thought were forgotten.
We tell you not to contact the police – and that we’ll know if you do. Because we can see you.
And now you know this is no ordinary abduction. It’s worse. Within hours you’re on the run, with only one thought in your head: That you will stop at nothing to get your daughter back.
Even murder…
Thoughts:
The book has a fast pace and well researched and written to make it the dilemmas believable.
There are many twists and turns to keep you glued to the pages, which is true for me – I finished the book in two days!
Okay, the path that Brooke takes on to get her daughter back is insane! I could feel her anxiety, desperation and determination to get to the bottom of the abduction and get her daughter back. I’m sure any parent placed in such a difficult situation would act the same.
The back and forth timelines were a great addition to keep the suspense levels high throughout the book, especially with some of the chapters ending on mini cliffhangers.
I had a couple of suspicions in the last part of the book about who was behind everything, and while I was right on some of the reveals, there were a few that took me by surprise which was a nice addition to complicate the plot a little.
The shocking revelations between Brooke and her tormentor were mind-blowing! You don’t find them out until the very end so you’re constantly wondering who is behind everything.

Overview:
I’m a fan of Simon Kernick’s writing style now and looking forward to reading more of his books in the future.
My Rating:
The book has a rating of 3.92 on GoodReads. I gave it a 5.
