The misfortune continues!
This is book five in the A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket, and I’m really enjoying the quick and easy reads.
The books are suitable for both kids and adults, and ever serve as a good palate cleanser between more serious books.

Plot from GoodReads:
There is nothing to be found in the pages of these books but misery and despair. You still have time to choose something else to read. But if you must know what unpleasantries befall the charming and clever Baudelaire children read on…
“The Austere Academy”: In these chapters the children face snapping crabs, strict punishments, dripping fungus, comprehensive exams, violin recitals, S.O.R.E. and the metric system.
Thoughts:
Ahhh, another interesting yet sad turn of events for the Baudelaire children as they head off to the Austere Academy, which is very true to its name.
I loved the addition of new characters and their unique quirks (it makes sense why they got along with the Baudelaire children with their own obsessive interests).
Living conditions are horrendous and the Academy and the staff there are as unreliable as most of the adults the children have so far encountered.

Overview:
I enjoyed the new twists brought to this book: new characters, new ideas, new unfortunate situations.
My Rating:
The book has a rating of 4.00 on GoodReads. I gave it a 5.
