The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket || Book Review

The misfortune continues!

This is book six in the A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket, and I’m really enjoying the quick and easy reads.

The books are suitable for both kids and adults, and ever serve as a good palate cleanser between more serious books.

Plot from GoodReads:

Dear Reader,

If you have just picked up this book, then it is not too late to put it back down. Like the previous books in A Series of Unfortunate Events, there is nothing to be found in these pages but misery, despair, and discomfort, and you still have time to choose something else to read.

Within the chapters of this story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway, and parsley soda.

I have sworn to write down these tales of the Baudelaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to read something else instead, you will save yourself from a helpful of horror and woe.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Thoughts:

This turned out to be a fascinating read, besides all the unfortunate events that follow the Baudelaire children around, because of the introduction of new characters and the ridiculous yet funny rules.

There is some hope to locating the children’s new friends but of course, there are obstacles to face.

One of the newest additions of guardians in the book was really one that I wanted to wrap my hands around and shake some sense into them, there was just absolutely no reason behind the decisions made!

Overview:

Right from the beginning you know something fishy is going on, no surprise with the way the each book is written, but the revelations come slowly to build the bigger picture around the circumstances.

My Rating:

The book has a rating of 4.04 on GoodReads. I gave it a 5.
