The Vile Village by Lemony Snicket || Book Review

The misfortune continues!

This is book seven in the A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket, and I’m really enjoying the quick and easy reads.

The books are suitable for both kids and adults, and ever serve as a good palate cleanser between more serious books.

Plot from GoodReads:

Dear Reader,

You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages. I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Thoughts:

The next misadventures takes the Baudelaire children to exactly what the book title states, the vile village.

Some secrets are finally coming to light and things are coming together with understanding some things that have been taking place in the books.

There was actually an adult in this book that was cool, and showed true interest in the children. Sure, they still had some faults but we’re all humans here. It was just great to see someone actually caring a little for a change and that all the adults in this series aren’t the worst humans on the planet.

Overview:

It was great to see a much anticipated reunion finally happen even though the Baudelaire children are still facing terrible times with new terrible people.

My Rating:

The book has a rating of 3.96 on GoodReads. I gave it a 5.
