The misfortune continues! 

This is book eight in the A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket, and I’m really enjoying the quick and easy reads.

The books are suitable for both kids and adults, and ever serve as a good palate cleanser between more serious books.

The Hostile Hospital – There are many pleasant things to read about, but this book contains none of them. Within its pages are such burdensome details as a suspicious shopkeeper, unnecessary surgery, heartshaped balloons, and some very starling news about a fire. Clearly you do not want to read about such things.

Thoughts:

A new journey takes the Baudelaire orphans to the Hostile Hospital which sounds very hostile and in some ways is but not really? It’s the vibe that some characters just give off, you know…

Here they try to get hold of a very important file that will give them some clues about the fire that destroyed their home and a possible surviving family member. It’s not an easy task and the orphans have to break some rules to get things done.

Violet finds herself in a dangerous situation, but thank goodness for her smart siblings. Some pretty close calls in this book for the children!

I enjoyed the silly lyrics of the singing group and at times played around with my own tunes in my head when reading them.
